Kimi Day!!!

Try to skype, but no one was available...
Getting silly.
Our driver's van that we will be toodling around in this week.
The Civil Affairs Bureau - CAB
on the 3rd floor.
Waiting for big sister... who was more than an hour late...
Apparently Kimi puked all over herself and the orphanage director who was bringing her all the way from Hengyang... a 1.5 hour bullet train ride and a taxi ride. So when they got here he took her into the bathroom to try to clean her up a bit... poor kid, motion sickness, perhaps?

Maria just played and squealed and yelled "mama!!!!"
We looked at the construction site out the window.
Our first site of Kimi! SOOOO tall!!
She's just beautiful!
We gave her a few cheerios... and a couple toys.
The orphanage directoron the left giving directions to our driver to get to the orphanage... we plan to go on Thursday! Hoping to meet Kimi's foster family.
trying out the sippy cup... not doing so well...

So i will write more tomorrow, but in brief... it is going to be a much harder transition with Kimi. She is pleasant enough, but for lack of any other words... very much like an animal... no manners, no reserves, nothing... example... today a family came into the play room to look around... Kimi walked right up to a lady and grabbed a small bag of cookies right out of her hand the tried to stuff the bag right into her mouth!!! we were horrified! We apologized, they understood and said it was fine! She walks around the room looking for anything to grab! and if she knows something is off limits, she tries to do it over and over and over. she laughs at us when we get stern and say no. Off course her smile is adorable! anyways, the point is she does not know when and what is appropriate at all... She grabs food with hands and just shoves it in her mouth! She is starving!!! She is so skinny, she looks like she came out of one the concentration camps from long ago! She needs a size 3 at least for length but a 2t is WAY too big around!!!

Maria isn't too sure about her! They actually haven't interacted at all... Kimi hasn't said a word. She had a diaper on when she got here, but when i put her on the potty she went. So we aren't really sure about her potty training. We will probably just put diapers on her for now and wait until we get home to figure anything major out! Sh definitely has a limp. Her left side has some issues. her left hand doesn't work as well... or i should say she favors it, so it has for less muscle tone than her right. She doesn't know how to suck from a bottle... she just tries to chew on it... she can't seem to do the sippy cup either. Its so sad... we think she was just allowed to do whatever she wanted whenever she wanted... obviously except food!

Sorry there is so few pictures! It was a little crazy with the puke and all... We'll get some more tomorrow.

I'm a little scared, Jerry's perfectly fine with her... Actually quite smitten. So he has been following her around keeping her in line! haha! She is going to need a lot of guidance and education!

Anyways... i am exhausted... It was kind of a long day. I am putting the girls to bed and going to sleep myself!

Thinking and praying for your girls. I wish I could be there to help. I'm having major adoption envy. Blessings to your little girls.

Happy Gotcha day!! Definitely sounds like a day of many mixed emotions. For you to say that you are a littl scared... well that says a whole lot. You're one of the strongest women I know. Thank goodness for Jerry, right? ;-)

Mixed emotions over here too- so happy Kimi finaly met her forever family- someone to love her and teach her, but yet my heart breaks for all that she's lived through to get her to this point. I'm sure her condition resulted in so much neglect from her caregivers. It sounds simply horrible.

Just keep reminding yourself that the Lord brought you to this point for a reason. Hang tight to that knowledge during the rough moments/days/weeks/months ahead. When you saw a picture of your Kimi, you just "knew." If anyone can take a damaged little girl, neglected and with animalistic behaviors, and help heal her and turn her into the bright light God has intended for her to be, you are the right woman for the job.

Hope you all were able to get some good sleep tonight/last night!

Oh! And again, CONGRATULATIONS and Happy Gotcha Day on your beloved little Kimi!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Eli puked in China too- actually his is prone to car sickness still. He tells us he had never been in a car/van until our Gotcha day. That besides the anxiety of a new family was all he could take. Eli was out of control, he had a foster family too....trust me we analized every move. Glad you have both kids ! Wishing I was there again !

Yay, now you finally have both of your girls. Congratulations!

From what you describe, Kimi has knows severe deprivation where it's survival mode only or die.

Keep things very, very simple, as you are already discovering. Remember to go through a teaching/learning phase with everything, even if it's just a brief demonstration, like with the bonking the cups on the head, which, I think, was the perfect thing to do.
